It’s critical to ensure proper access to health care for all citizens in Austin. Similar to my previous point, I would like to evaluate existing programs and take it into consideration as we evaluate all of our health care programs. If it is within the city budget I would like to consider increasing funding to ensure premiums remain affordable. Considerations including mental health care, specialty medical care, dental and vision should be robustly negotiated by the department responsible for selecting the city’s chosen provider . A regular assessment of this budget item would be a priority, especially considering unfunded liabilities.
