November 6, 2018, Austin voters have the opportunity to pass a $925 million bond package which includes $250 million for affordable housing. How do you plan to expand and promote the development of diverse housing options that are affordable for seniors of different income levels?

Natasha Harper-Madison

City Council, District 1

We have to start thinking outside the box when it comes to our programs. I especially want to re-evaluate our density bonus program and find better ways to encourage on-site affordable housing. I would also like for the City to look more into land trusts and existing land assets and find ways to build housing with deeper levels of affordability. Additionally I would encourage cooperative housing for seniors complete with amenities, classes, as needed assistance, transportation and activities. This later option also addresses many issues outside of housing , including question #6.
