Solutions to homelessness exist – they require scaling up social services and housing programs, including the pathways from shelter to housing. To date, Austin has not identified adequate funding to address this challenge. How would you work to identify the funding needed?

This is yet again a time for strong collaborative efforts to connect public and private efforts and dollars. Developments like Community First Village, that have figured out the need to address the roots of the homelessness are exactly what we need. More developers should be building these projects, more of our travel and tourism dollars should go to funding them and additionally wages for individuals helping to manage and mitigate homelessness need to be commensurate with the difficulty of the position.
