The primary issue to address with declining enrollment in Austin’s schools is affordable housing. We need more housing types in more places to accommodate more families. In order to address and transcend the achievement gap we have got to provide access to early childhood education immediately. We must address the digital divide and disparities in digital literacy and create comprehensive systems to provide more families with access. Lastly, we need to ensure that educators have the tools they need to succeed including fair pay, affordable housing close to the city center and access to multi modal transportation options.
