Frank Ward III
City Council, District 8
Prop C
Prop F
Prop K
As a Commissioner for the City of Austin’s Parks & Recreation Board, I will do all I can to support our city’s beautiful parkland and the Parks & Recreation Department that does so much to care for these public lands. That said, bond funding is not my preferred method of supporting our City’s needs; yet, PARD is perpetually underfunded and this will help close the gap. I support Prop F because I believe that public safety is always worth the investment. And I support Prop K because I value transparency in how our city spends our hard-earned tax dollars and know that City Hall has the capacity to be better stewards of the people’s money…we need to determine where our current level of funding for programs and offices makes sense–and where it doesn’t. Our next city budget is enormous: $4.1 billion. We should emphasize bond funding less and smart spending of our General Revenue…that will be better for the City of Austin in both the short- and long-run. We have an obligation to the taxpayer to get this right.
