How can the City better work with Austin’s tech community to bring innovative approaches to civic challenges?

Steve Adler

Mayor

We’ve made great strides since the 10-1 council took office in early 2015. We have participated in civic hack-a-thons and civic competitions that seek to bring innovative and new solutions to long-existing problems.

I remain open to ideas and conversations about innovation within our city government and throughout the city as a whole. I believe that we can use technology to better understand some of our problems like housing affordability and transportation, and I’m proud to be the Mayor that led Austin to be the Kitty Hawk of autonomous vehicles.

Ultimately, we need greater cooperation between the tech community and our government because we need to get smarter about how we solve our challenges. We have limited resources and the tech community can bring a lot to the table to use those resources more efficiently.
