How do you plan to to improve access to public transportation and ensure its affordability?

Linda O’Neal

City Council, District 9

Rail was the answer, but we waited so long that rail cannot be the answer. Bus and rail ridership is down across the nation because of the popularity of ride shares.  To build rail now would be too expensive and ineffective. We missed the “rail” on this one;) I think micro-transit ride shares may be the future. Chariot is a ride-share bus that crowd sources routes and people at a very fair price.  Every ride-share car takes five cars off the road. As business addresses and solves the problem of congestion, they should also pay a fee to improve mass transit. For example, dockless transportation companies should help pay for wider sidewalks to accommodate their mode of transportation.
