How do you think the city should use technology to engage the public and share information about complex policy proposals such as Imagine Austin and CodeNext?

The City of Austin must continue to expand all uses of technology through platforms such as the City’s website and social media, to engage the public and share information on policy proposals, especially those with far-reaching implications such as Imagine Austin and CodeNext. In addition, we must incorporate technology tools when engaging with the public during in-person gatherings to record and display feedback from the group that has gathered.  Perhaps the bigger challenge for the City in this realm is actually responding to the feedback and being accountable to the public for the input. CodeNext is a perfect example of the need to improve in this realm. Despite the online, line-by-line comment tool available for the text of CodeNext drafts, there is no indication that any of it was ever addressed or, more basically, how it was even considered.
