This is a significant proposal with potentially hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars at stake, and the voters of Austin deserve a voice in this decision. Unfortunately, the soccer stadium deal clearly demonstrates the current mayor’s willingness to bargain with corporate interests at the expense of Austin residents and his comfort in working behind the scenes before allowing citizens a voice. As mayor, I will bring transparency and strong public involvement to all such decisions.
