We need to get back to needs-based, data-driven budget planning that looks into the future. We must recognize that many of the disparities and inequities that exist are not going to resolved overnight, so it takes prolonged planning and investment to whittle away at the gaps. For me, I have always been appreciative of the efforts of the Community Action Network to help us assess these community-wide needs and work to avoid duplication of efforts. Additionally, as we invest money in programs, we must continue to monitor our success in meeting needs and our overall trajectory.
