City Council, District 1
As I have done in the past, I will go to the Texas Legislature and advocate for more funding for public education from pre-kindergarten through college. Additional resources would help AISD provide better services. I would consider land development code changes that may permit additional FAR near schools. Moreover, I want to prioritize job training programs that help adults receive the education they need to make more money. Additionally, I want to improve mass transit through dedicated pathways; potentially increasing the amount of time that parents have to spend with their children.
We also need to invest resources in educators who will be instrumental in the educational development of low-income students. By investing in qualified and well-trained teachers, policymakers and educators can help with narrowing the opportunity gap.
