What can the city do to lower average rents or at least decrease the rate of growth of average rents?

Vincent Harding

City Council, District 1

To assist with lowering rents, the City can permit greater development to allow for more multi-family unit buildings and publicly owned housing units. A City owned housing unit could control rent costs. Supply and demand economics have an impact on rent costs and one way to slow down the rate of increase is by adding supply. Additional housing supply to help meet the current demand and prepare for future demand is important as we consider the type of City we want to be in the next 25 years.
