How would you maximize the efficacy of the $250M affordable housing bond (assume that it passes)?

Based on land costs increasing, a focus on land acquisition is pivotal in every District in Austin and not just east Austin Districts. Leverage is a key element in maximizing this bond and trying to provide more housing. Additionally, a focus should be on making sure that the affordable housing units does not just go to those making the median family income but also for individuals and families making less than the median family income.

Moreover, public entities such as the city and nonprofits should work together to try to maintain existing affordable or less expensive housing units by purchasing them when they come available for sale. This would give the City and nonprofits the ability to not only help provide affordable housing but in some scenarios help provide low income housing.
