While campaigning, it has become apparent that protection of religious freedom is a concern of many Texas voters, especially those in minority communities.  The need for this protection is evidenced by examples of religious discrimination against African American men. Both Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran and Pasadena Public Health Director Dr. Eric Walsh lost their positions for discussing their personal Christian beliefs.  I would sponsor legislation that prohibits state and local entities from retaliating against employees for expressing their religious beliefs on their own time.
