It’s important for Austin to support multi-family housing in areas that are conducive to walkable communities and that have access to corridors with multiple transit options. Density where it’s appropriate can relieve traffic congestion, and studies have shown that density and “spontaneous encounters” (that is to say, regular happenstance contact with friends and neighbors in community settings) are also good to increase our sense of community.
