How should we measure the success of the city’s Open Government policy?

Rich DePalma

City Council, District 8

Open Government exists for greater transparency, civic participation and government
accountability. A few ways that I believe Open Government can measured are:

  • Is useful/accurate/timely information and data available to the public?
  • Can information available through Open Government identify gaps and issues in
city services and can we use it to facilitate action?
  • Data should reflect the efficacy of government policies
  • Can the data be accessed through an APL so it can be used for a public benefit.
  • Successful data management systems should reduce costs associated with
    reporting and open records production.
