Would you support a policy requiring the City’s Development Services department to achieve its goal of 90% permit review completion within 15 business days across all departments/disciplines by April 2019? (Y/N/Explain)

Rich DePalma

City Council, District 8

Yes. We need to continue the work of reforming the permitting process. Moving all the individuals who permit for the various departments under one roof is a step in the right direction. I support adding the necessary trained staff to do the work, if the staff can be justified. We still need a permitting process that is clear and predictable. It should not matter which staff member helps you, the directions and decisions should be the same. The city needs to increase the key success metrics currently reported out by Development Services. It should include a director’s note each month on why goals were not being met and what is the plan to meet the goals.
