Ann Kitchen
City Council, District 5
Access to housing and transportation are key to affordability in Austin. I have led efforts to ensure the implementation of Austin’s new Strategic Housing Blue Print that is designed to increase rental and owner housing access and affordability. Because transportation problems are the second highest cost for most families and can limit access to jobs; I am working with Capital Metro, the City of Austin and our community to set a path for a high capacity transit system (Project Connect) that uses new technology with the goal of increasing equity and access to jobs in the city and region. The Council has also worked to address affordability by expanding access to health care and technology, as well as good jobs with benefits.
