In a world where health care costs are rising and fixed incomes stay fixed, my position is that it’s the right thing to do to support increased funding for retiree health care for both current and future COA retirees. In addition to exploring ALL options within sustainable parameters, I’d also call for stronger coordination of upstream services (counseling, transportation, education, wellness, economic supports) through EAP or private social service organizations, to help reduce long term health care costs through preventive measures.
