My vision is that, despite two decades of unfortunate setbacks (and patchwork evolution around the same), that we substantially enhance rail capacity over the next two decades, both connecting Austin to nearby sister metro areas but also connecting key density corridors within the Austin area. While achieving that step (and that’s a lofty one), we’ll need to simultaneously continue to enhance bus service with extemded hours, more frequent service, improved routes and connections, low-cost ridership programs to ensure accessibility for all income levels, and obviously more sustainably fueled fleet vehicles as related to reducing greenhouse emissions.
