Throughout my life, most of my work has been dedicated to equity, access, opportunity and justice. I began my legal career as a civil rights attorney in its pursuit. I led the office of the most progressive Texas Senator, at the time, Eliot Shapleigh where our agenda prioritized this work. That’s why I supported and served with Breakthrough Austin, which works with students who are the first in their family to go to college (as I was), and GENAustin, which seeks to empower young women to make smart choices about their futures and careers. That’s why I’ve worked with the Anti-Defamation League to ensure that all people to fight discrimination and hate and to fight for justice. That’s why as Chair of Ballet Austin, I worked to create and provide access to the arts for every person in our community.
