I have worked hard to find such dedicated funding streams. The “downtown puzzle,” associated with a convention center expansion, would enable the use of a TPID as one such source of funding. Additionally, I’ve gotten the support of the 10/1 Council to get staff to explore the use of $30 million in unused Waller Creek TIF capacity for this purpose. I’ll continue to work to identify new ways of funding that do not increase the property tax burden on Austinites. And I’m working hard to campaign for Proposition A in the upcoming November bond election because it, too, would provide needed funding.
