How can the City support the continued growth and success of Austin’s tech sector?

Steve Adler

Mayor

Austin’s tech sector has provided a level of economic vibrancy that complements our existing industries. It is now largely self-sufficient and grows because of its vibrancy. That doesn’t mean that the city’s work is done, though.

I was proud to be a driving force for Austin in the Smart City competition, and though we came in second place, I still see Austin at the forefront of that conversation. I’ll continue to host hack-a-thons, represent the city at technology events, and push the council to be innovators and risk takers when it comes to adopting new technologies and new ways of thinking. That kind of activity keeps Austin as a leader in the tech world and that’s right where we need to be.

The tech community needs to continue to be more politically active and effective.
