Austin is fortunate to be one of the main hubs of technological advancement. It is my belief that our emphasis on our education and workforce development helped make that happen, and it would be imperative that we continue to invest in our local workforce by expanding educational, mentorship and developmental opportunities that help individuals enter and grow within the tech industry. I would like to continue the City’s participation in the Austin Technology Council. One area of emphasis that I would like to pursue is increasing opportunities for diversity within the technology industry (it’s one of the least diverse sectors of employment), which makes partnering with AISD and ACC to develop talent and bridge the digital divide even more important.
