What do you see as the City’s responsibility toward addressing the digital divide in Austin, and what steps would you take to bridge that divide?

Whereas the digital divide was once exasperated by the financial barrier to entry of owning a desktop or laptop computer, I believe that it has been reduced by the increased accessibility to smart phones. However, the divide still exists and is not limited just to devices, but to digital literacy. I believe that the city plays an important role in promoting a community in which everyone has access to the conveniences of technology. This includes support for code academies and ensuring that we are able to provide affordable high speed Internet to all parts of the city.
