I have had long involvement with the Democratic Party at all levels going back nearly forty years. (I think I am one of the larger sponsors of the Travis County Democratic Party.) I worked for State Senator Eliot Shapleigh (D-El Paso) for nearly eight years at the Legislature as his Chief of Staff and General Counsel. I’m particularly proud of my work for President Obama going back to 2007, when I joined his finance committee. I also knocked doors for him in Wisconsin and manned his Election Day boiler room in Kansas City, where I worked on voter protection issues. I have supported the party financially throughout the years and given my time and effort, as well. I am currently on the executive committee of the US Democratic Mayor’s Caucus.
